All right, before getting back to updates on the upcoming Order of the Spirits book, I first wanted to address why I decided to make room for blogs on this website. Read on and you’ll also learn how often I intend to post here and what topics I intend to bring up. So, let’s get to it!
First and foremost, via these posts, I aim to keep you updated on my progress regarding Order of the Spirits content. Writing process itself is tricky to report on, but I will try my best to keep you in the loop. I suppose I’ll share news when certain milestones are reached, or when new plans and ideas are formed, goals set, and so forth. For example: In the past few days, I’ve been actively searching for a book editor who will help me get the first book in the series, Order of the Spirits: Fragments, as close to perfect as possible! (More details on that coming soon in another post.)
The second reason I wanted to make this site more blog-oriented was out of personal motives. Namely, I don’t often get an opportunity to share my interests with others. I lead a life that rarely lets me see my friends, meanwhile I’ve got little to nothing in common with the people around me. No one in my everyday life cares what book I’m currently reading, what game I’m playing, or what tv show currently has its hooks in me. And in truth, I don’t give a damn about their interests either. There’s an understanding there, I’m fine with that. What irks me is that, due to such an environment, at times it feels like I’m the only one who sees value in the things I like. Which then, of course, sometime raises the question if I’m only imagining that value. And it sucks. So yeah, I wanted to make room on this website for discussing the things I appreciate.
For clarity’s sake, here’s a short list of what those things are:
Video Games
Rarely anyone I know takes video games seriously.
Fantasy Books
(and Fantasy genre in general)
Lots of book lovers around me, none of them fantasy fans in the slightest.
TV Shows
Truth be told, this is where I sometimes find the common ground with those around me.
Comic Books and Superheroes
Considered too childish.
Hard Rock and Heavy fuckin' Metal
Considered too satanic.
Soundtracks and Orchestral/Instrumental Music
Not considered at all, from what I’ve observed.
Various content Creators
Admittedly, this one’s kinda tricky, but I can’t in good conscience end this list without showing some love for my Funhaus crew.
Right… so, I guess I’m going to use blogs to vent a little as well. Either way, those are some of the subjects that I’ll probably be mentioning in an Off Topic category here. How often will that be? Hell if I know. Which brings me to my last point regarding this blog stuff…
Many sources suggest that (new) authors should start blogging as a means to connect with their audience, which is all fine and well, but most of those sources then state that the authors should blog frequently. Every day, almost. Every week, at least! Now, hear me out… No way I can promise that!
If I have the time and energy to write, in most cases I will use that blessing to work on the next Order of the Spirit story. Besides, would you really be interested in reading forced and disingenuous blog posts from me? Let me tell you right now, I suck at being nice just for the sake of it. You can tell it from a mile away when I’m faking it. Could I learn to get better at it? Probably, but for what? Online presence? I’d rather be honest with you, at whatever pace proves natural.
When something comes up that I’d like to discuss – you’ll hear from me. If there’s something I’d like to share – I’ll write about it. When there’s Order of the Spirits news to report – I’ll keep you posted. As simple as that! Fuck the schedule.
If you’re okay with those terms, you might want to consider subscribing to the newsletter here as it’s the best way to stay in touch. And while on that subject… I haven’t bothered implementing comments on the website since I rarely see people comment on blogs in general. That, however, doesn’t mean you can’t share your thoughts with me! If you ever want to get in touch, ask me something, or simply offer your opinion, you can always send me a message directly! The easiest way to do so is through the Contact page. Be assured that I read and reply to every message sent from there!
All right, I’m pretty sure that covers everything I’ve planned for this post. Expect more artworks soon and an update on that whole looking for an editor bit!
Until then!
